How does Maloum work?
Written by Sophia Brecht Published Last updated
How does Maloum work? You publish posts that are either public and free or visible only to paying subscribers. Alongside that you sell single photos and videos in chat, send paid mass messages, accept tips and list physical products in the shop. Every post is reviewed before it appears, and every payment goes through the platform.
For this guide we read the help centre, the creator terms and the fan terms (AGB), both contracts in the version of 9 July 2026. Last checked: 1 October 2026.
How does Maloum work with subscriptions?
A subscription unlocks your private posts, while public posts are open to everyone for free. You set the monthly price yourself, and the help centre puts the floor at €5. The same article says successful creators recommend €5 to €15.
A subscription normally runs for one month, which means 30 days, and renews automatically until the fan cancels. The fan terms also let you set a different term. You pick your prices inside a range that Maloum sets for all creators; only the minimum of that range is published.
One rule on raising prices later is easy to overlook: anyone who has already subscribed keeps paying the price they joined at, for good. A higher price only applies to new fans. That is what Maloum’s help centre article on subscriptions (in German) says.
How much does a Maloum subscription cost fans?
More than the price you enter. Maloum adds a 15% service fee to every purchase, and VAT on top of that.
Under the fan terms, the prices fans see are gross prices with both items already included. You receive nothing from the service fee; Maloum keeps all of it. What that means for your share is worked through with an example in Maloum fees.
How do you sell content in chat?
Through paid messages, where you price each item separately and the photo or video only becomes visible once the fan has paid. This works with subscribers too, because the help centre allows especially exclusive content to cost extra while a subscription is running.
Mass messages reach many fans at once and can carry paid content as well. Maloum has not published a minimum or maximum price for messages. If you would rather not handle the chat alone, getting help has been officially allowed since July 2026, but you have to disclose it in the chat. How we deal with that is on our page about chat management.
How do tips work on Maloum?
Fans can send you a tip in chat whenever they like. Maloum states no minimum or maximum amount.
Tips also serve a second purpose. You agree custom requests with the fan in chat, and the fan pays for them with a tip. Maloum does not describe a separate ordering system for custom content.
How does the shop work?
You list physical products in the shop, but they are sold in Maloum’s name and for Maloum’s account. You ship the parcel yourself with Maloum’s Vienna address as the sender, and nothing on the packaging may point to your identity or your address.
Maloum checks every product by hand. Product photos count as public and follow the same rules as public posts. For hygiene reasons Maloum refuses some items altogether, for example anything that has been in contact with blood. Prices, shipping and excluded items are covered in the guide to the Maloum shop.
What are the ways to earn on Maloum?
Seven, if you count the referral programme. The table shows how each one works and which limits Maloum has published.
| Income source | How it works | Published limits |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | Unlocks private posts, renews automatically | At least €5 a month |
| Content in chat | Priced item by item, visible after payment | None published |
| Mass message | Paid content to many fans at once | None published |
| Tip | Any time in chat | None published |
| Custom request | Agreed in chat, paid by tip | None published |
| Shop | Maloum sells, you ship | Maloum’s price guide, e.g. socks €10 to €40 |
| Referral | 5% of the earnings of creators you bring in | Six months according to the help centre |
The contract contains no clause on referrals; the rules only appear in the help centre. Details are in the Maloum referral programme guide.
What happens before a post goes live?
Maloum’s team reviews every post before it becomes visible, according to the help centre usually within a few minutes.
Public posts must not show genitals, nipples or sexual acts. Private posts may be explicit as long as everything is legal and everyone involved has agreed. Offering real-life meetings or prostitution is banned on Maloum.
What runs automatically on Maloum?
Welcome messages. Under the fan terms, a fan can receive an automatically generated message from the creator’s account after following, subscribing or buying content.
External programs that access the platform automatically are banned, and that covers bots and scrapers. The terms leave open whether third-party chat software counts. The rules on AI are explained in AI on Maloum.
How do fans pay on Maloum?
With Apple Pay, PayPal, credit card or Klarna/SOFORT, according to Maloum’s home page. The fan terms also mention EPOCH as an example. Card statements show the operator’s name, neolime GmbH.
For you this means you never handle a payment yourself and never have to give fans bank details. Steering fans to payments outside Maloum through links, usernames or contact details is actually forbidden, and a breach can get the account blocked immediately.
Is there an app, or livestreaming?
There is no app in the App Store or on Google Play, because both stores have strict rules for 18+ content. Instead, the help centre explains how to save the website to your home screen as a web app.
Neither the terms nor the help centre mention livestreams, so we do not list them as a feature. How to set up your account and get it approved is explained in becoming a Maloum creator.
