How to become a Maloum creator

Written by Sophia Brecht Published Last updated

To become a Maloum creator, you convert an ordinary user account into a creator account, show that you act as a business owner (Unternehmer) and confirm your identity with an official ID through the provider Ondato. Maloum then has up to two weeks to accept or reject you. The conversion is final, so take your time over the decision first.

Last checked: 1 October 2026. Our sources are Maloum’s help centre and the creator terms in the version of 9 July 2026.

How do you become a Maloum creator step by step?

In five steps, two of which need documents: proof that you are a business, and your ID. You have to be an adult from the outset.

StepWhat happensWhat to watch
1. Create a user accountOrdinary account on maloum.comYou must be an adult
2. Start the conversionThe user account becomes a creator accountCannot be reversed
3. Prove business statusEvidence such as a VAT ID (UID-Nummer)Check other evidence with support first
4. Verify your identityID check through OndatoPassport, national ID card or driving licence
5. Review by MaloumUp to two weeksThe contract only starts with the confirmation email

What does converting your account mean?

It is permanent. The help centre says explicitly that the conversion cannot be undone.

If you have been using Maloum as a fan, that same account turns into your creator account. From then on the contract treats it as a personal, non-transferable account, and you answer for everything that happens through it, even when others help you. Read the help centre article on the conversion in full before you press the button.

What proof of business status do you need?

Suitable evidence that you are a business owner; the contract gives the VAT ID (UID-Nummer) as an example. Private individuals may not register as creators.

Maloum does not publish whether a German trade registration (Gewerbeanmeldung) or a tax number without a VAT ID is enough. The contract provides for small businesses (Kleinunternehmer), but you have to tell Maloum when your status changes. What Maloum regulates on tax is explained in Maloum taxes; whether you need a registered trade is a question for a tax adviser.

How does Maloum verification work?

Through Ondato, encrypted, with a passport, national ID card or driving licence. Maloum lets only identified adult creators upload and also checks that the ID really belongs to you.

Anyone else who appears in your content has to be an adult as well. Maloum checks the identity and age of every person shown before the content is released, and it needs their written consent. Allow for this before you upload content made with someone else. If the check gives you trouble, the article on verification also offers a call with one of Maloum’s account managers.

How long until you are approved?

Up to two weeks. That is the time Maloum reserves in §4.2 to check your details and accept or reject you. The contract only comes into force with Maloum’s confirmation email.

After that things move faster. According to the help centre, Maloum usually reviews individual posts within a few minutes before they go live. So plan for up to two weeks before your launch, especially if you already have social media promotion lined up.

Can you open a couple account on Maloum?

Yes. Each person creates their own creator account, gets verified and then sends a message to the maloum.official account.

Both people must be adults and must agree. That is how a help centre article last updated on 13 August 2026 describes it.

What should you set up first after approval?

Payout details, your subscription price and your first posts. For payouts you enter your country, first and last name and IBAN; until you do, Maloum transfers nothing.

The price has a €5 minimum, and Maloum points to successful creators who recommend €5 to €15. Choose with care, because existing subscribers keep their starting price for good. Public posts without explicit nudity act as your shop window, and private posts are for paying subscribers. Fans can automatically get a welcome message when they follow, subscribe or buy something. How subscriptions, chat, tips and the shop fit together is shown in how Maloum works, and what you keep from your price in Maloum fees.

Visitors have to come from outside, and Maloum itself names Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit and YouTube. The other direction is banned: on Maloum you may not send fans to other platforms by link, username or contact details.

If you want to sell physical products, the shop comes in. Maloum checks every product by hand, product photos count as public, and the packaging you ship must reveal nothing about your identity or address. This can wait until your profile is up and running.

What applies if someone referred you?

After signing up, you send one short message to maloum.official giving the username of the person who recommended you. Only then does the referral count.

It costs you nothing. According to Maloum’s home page, referred creators keep their full earnings, and Maloum pays the referrer’s bonus on top. How the programme works is explained in the Maloum referral programme guide.

What else should you know before you start?

Either side can end the contract at any time by email, with four weeks’ notice to the end of a month. For breaches of contract, the contract sets a flat contractual penalty of €500.00.

Since July 2026 you may get help from third parties, such as an agency or chatters, as long as you stay in control and disclose in chat that it is not always you writing. If someone tries to recruit you for an agency through Maloum messages or comments, that breaks Maloum’s rules. We never approach anyone on Maloum; you find us through this website, and how working together starts is on the application page. How to recognise dubious offers is covered in Maloum agency scams.
