Maloum vs OnlyFans

Last updated

Maloum vs OnlyFans: on paper both platforms keep 20% of revenue. Maloum, run by neolime GmbH in Vienna, calculates your 80% on the net price, though, and charges fans a 15% service fee on top. OnlyFans takes 20% of the fan’s whole payment. Then come the differences in payouts, obligations and audience: Maloum requires business status and was built for the German-speaking market.

Maloum vs OnlyFans: how do the two platforms differ?

Less in the size of the cut than in the figure the cut is taken from, and then in payouts, obligations and audience. The comparison rests on Maloum’s creator terms (as of 9 July 2026), Maloum’s help centre and the OnlyFans terms (as of August 2024), all read on 1 October 2026.

What do you keep from a sale on Maloum and on OnlyFans?

At the same price, 8 out of every 10 on both. Measured against what the fan pays before tax, though, you get less on Maloum. Our calculation from the terms of both platforms:

ExampleMaloumOnlyFans
Price you set€10.00$10.00
Added for the fan, before tax€1.50 service feenothing
The fan pays before tax€11.50$10.00
The platform keeps€2.00 commission plus €1.50 fee$2.00
You receive€8.00$8.00
Your share of the fan’s net payment69.5% (the figure Maloum’s contract uses)80%

If a fan should pay the same amount on both platforms, your price on Maloum has to be lower. From a fan payment of €11.50 you keep €8.00 on Maloum; from $11.50 on OnlyFans you keep $9.20. Maloum can agree a different share of 60%–100% in writing with individual creators, but it publishes no criteria for this. The guide to Maloum fees explains how the fees are built up.

How do payouts and obligations differ?

On Maloum you normally get one credit note a month to your bank account, and you have to trade as a business. Your claim arises within three days of the fan’s payment. The contract says the payout comes by the end of the following month at the latest; the help centre says on the 1st of the month. The minimum amount works the same way: the contract carries anything under €30 over to the following month, and the help centre promises payouts with no limit. We go by the contract. For OnlyFans, the terms give neither a payout date nor the size of the minimum amount, and payments there are in US dollars, so an exchange rate applies to you. The details for Maloum are in the guide to Maloum payouts.

Creators on Maloum must be business owners (Unternehmer) as defined by the Austrian Commercial Code (Unternehmensgesetzbuch) and prove it, for example with a UID number. Maloum does not say whether a German trade registration (Gewerbeanmeldung) is enough. Settle that with a tax adviser (Steuerberater) before you move your account over. The guide to Maloum taxes gives an overview.

Which audience is Maloum built for, and which is OnlyFans built for?

Maloum for the German-speaking region, OnlyFans for a worldwide audience that pays in dollars. Maloum describes itself as founded in Vienna and built from day one for the German-speaking market. Its website is in German and English, its help centre only in German, and the German version of the contract is the binding one. Maloum’s sitemap has country landing pages for Germany and Austria but none for Switzerland. Maloum speaks of more than 50,000 creators but publishes no fan numbers. Fenix International, the company behind OnlyFans, reports 377.5 million registered fan accounts in its annual accounts for 2024.

Which rules apply when you run both platforms?

You may promote Maloum from outside, but you may never promote OnlyFans on Maloum. The creator terms ban sending fans to other platforms by link, username or contact details (§ 8.1), and they prohibit advertising competing platforms and luring fans away (§ 8.2.6 and § 8.2.7). If you break these rules, Maloum may suspend your account at once. Maloum’s own comparison page on OnlyFans claims the opposite, that you could promote each platform on the other. That contradicts the contract, and the contract is what applies.

Think about what you upload, too. Under § 13.4 Maloum may use your content for advertising with no limit in time or place, including in edited form and with a watermark. What we take on for a Maloum account is described on the page about Maloum management.

Frequently asked questions

Does Maloum or OnlyFans pay creators more?

At the same price, you keep 80% of each sale on either platform. The gap shows up on the fan’s side: Maloum charges fans a 15% service fee on top, OnlyFans has no such surcharge. So of what a fan pays before tax, 69.5% reaches you on Maloum and 80% on OnlyFans. Which platform earns you more overall depends on how many fans pay, and Maloum publishes no figures on that. Maloum can also agree special shares of 60%–100%.

Can I be on Maloum and OnlyFans at the same time?

Yes. Maloum’s own page comparing itself with OnlyFans takes for granted that creators run both. Its contract draws hard lines, though: on Maloum you may not advertise OnlyFans or send fans there with a link, a username or contact details, and doing so can cost you the account. Promote Maloum from the outside instead, on Instagram, TikTok or Reddit for example. Bear in mind too that Maloum may use what you upload in its own marketing.

As a new creator, should I start on Maloum or OnlyFans?

That comes down to who your audience is. If most of your followers live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, Maloum has a lot going for it: a contract and help centre in German, PayPal and Klarna at checkout, and a discovery feature. If your audience is spread worldwide and pays in dollars, OnlyFans is the more natural fit. On Maloum you need proof of business status from day one, and the switch to a creator account can’t be undone. Talk the tax side through with a tax adviser beforehand.
